I'm on a roll...or is it too early to say??

Guess what!!! – the alarm clock went off at 5.45am and I was at the gym by 6.30am this morning.
Madness or what?? And there was a queue to get in, now that's mad! Turns out staff were late arriving to open up. I was very surprised at the number of people there.

A spin class started at 6.45 so the ladies changing rooms/showers were bit busy at 6.30am when I finished in the gym....this mornings workout was a gently 30min run/walk/run and 10mins of stretching which is a must otherwise I won't be able to walk later.

Just need to get my eating under control cos it’s started......"I've done some exercise so I can eat anything" syndrome, which is my down fall when training...I can gain weight so easily.

New Year, New Start or should that be Restart!!

Well as I have wasted the last 2 months....its about time I got my act together, so the last few days I've become more active....using the stairs and not the lift to and from the flat, going for walks at lunchtime and today I went to the gym!! I have photographic evidence.... a picture of the gym. Was going to take a photo from inside but thought my fellow gyms goers wouldn't be happy

Another bad week...but ends on a high!!

Weight still having problems leaving me!! I stick to the diet all day and all week but fail in the evenings due to my new lodger!! (to explain....there is a big tin of chocolates sat in the lounge! and I can't resist) He can eat and eat and eat and never gain weight, but then he does have a very active job and burns calories like I gain calories!!

so this was a 'stay the same' week:-

Week 3 - lost nothing - still 37lbs to go!

but in the end I didn't get too upset and spent the weekend celebrating a friends' 40th birthday and that meant food, alcohol and food and birthday cake.

Happy birthday Lisa!

We started with chocolate on the drive to Hereford, then pizza for lunch....then had curry at the party.....!

This was us about 3 three years ago ......

how we change (well me) .....hopefully this time next year I'll have a similar photo on here....!!!

Not a good week!

Well diet is going badly, only lost 1lb this week - I need to focus!

Week 2 - lost 1lb - 37lbs to go!

I also need to get off my arse and get some exercise.....did walk 1.3 miles on Friday morning because I needed to pick up my car for work (drank too much the afternoon before).

I had some inspiration this morning. My running club (yes don't laugh!) Lordshill Road Runners helped out at the local ParkRun http://www.parkrun.org.uk/ A lot of the club runners take part and it was LRR turn to assist. So I went along as a marshal but think I will be going back in the new year to join in. Its a timed 5k run which takes place every Saturday morning so you can monitor your progress over time

And if this photo can't make me focus and diet nothing will. (Looks like I've gained 10lbs this week!!)

Diet Update!!!

As I said in an earlier post (of all 2) I plan to lose weight in the first 3 months of my training plan. I would like to lose 3 stone (42lbs) more maybe but 1 step at a time.

I'd like to have some sort of graph depicting my loss on this blog but having problems working out how to do it at the moment (all suggestions will be welcomed)

Week 1 - lost 4lb - 38lbs to go!

great start!
I'm following the French Diet by Dr Dukan "The Dukan Diet" a very original name. Its a 4 step programme,

  • step 1 - 4 to 7 days of protein-rich meals;
  • step 2 - continuing with protein rich meals plus vegetables.
  • step 3 - start adding carbs  & starchy foods
  • step 4 - eat what ever I like (I can't wait for this step/phase!)
I like this diet!!

Crazy "Last Supper" weekend....

Didn't really get the chance to do much planning re my training this weekend, as I was at the ALSAR Conference from Friday evening until I got home about an hour ago!

Weekend was full of eating, drinking, eating, drinking, not a lot of sleep, ummm what else did I do??? I know.....

.......I got stuck in the lift!! it was hilarious, we were rescued by hotel staff and not our Search and Rescue colleagues (they were too busy having dinner) but that will teach us to get the lift up 1 floor only!

but........ I did do some mental planning and preparation....

High Level Plan
October to December 2011 - lose some weight; start some basic exercise (swim & walking)
January to March 2012 - base training; continue with weight loss
April to September 2012 - Follow training plan for a Half Marathon (end of Sept New Forest Half)
October to March 2013 - Follow training plan for a Marathon
April 2013 LONDON MARATHON!!!

Friday 30 September 2011

At last, a London Marathon Place!!

I shouldn't be surprised  - I've been applying for a place for the last 5 years, and 2 years ago I was advised that the 5 year "promised place" was ending but the organisers would still honour those of us who had applied for the last 3 or 4 years.

As I haven’t run or done any real exercise for at least 5 months it will be stupid of me to think about let alone run a marathon in 6 months time, so have deferred my place until April 2013!!
